The documentary by veteran filmmaker Shaji N. Karun is an expedition that explores the thoughts of the artist, teacher, and thinker K G Subramanyan. It traces the artist’s journey through Kerala, a place he left decades ago before he became 'The KGS'. The film draws its title from one of the books published by the artist.

Shaji N. Karun (1952) is an Indian film director and cinematographer, born in the Kollam district, in Kerala, India. The family moved to Thiruvananthapuram, the capital of the state in 1963. He did his schooling in Palkkulangara H.S. and took a bachelor's degree from University College, Thiruvananthapuram. In 1971 he entered the Film and Television Institute of India where he took his diploma in Cinematography. He won the President's medal on passing out in 1975. After a brief stint in the south Indian city of Madras, he returned to Thiruvananthapuram in 1976 where he got an appointment as film officer in the newly formed state Film Development Corporation. His association with the legendary Malayalam film-maker, G.Aravindan Began at this time and led to Shaji defining a new outlook in cinematography in Malayalam cinema He made his first major career shift in 1988 when he directed his debut feature, Piravi, which received much critical acclaim including the Camera d`Or at the Cannes Film Festival. He is also the winner of the Kerala State Film Awards for Best Director for Swaham (1994) and Vanaprastham (1999). His other projects include Panchavadi Pala (1984), Antim Nyay (1993), AKG (2007), Kutty Srank (2009) and Swapaanam (2013). His 2018 project includes Oolu.
