Emami Art Gallery presents a curtain raiser to the documentary film FROM THE SHADOWS #Missingirls. A film that has been shot over 6 years by an award-winning Indian filmmaking team. The film has been selected as a work in progress by 10 international forums and is all set to premiere at the prestigious International Documentary and Shorts Film Festival of Kerela (IDSFFK 2022).
Artist Leena Kejriwal relentlessly sprays silhouettes on public walls tagged #missing, activist Hasina Kharbhih accompanies rescued girls rescued across international borders. Women imaginatively challenge every facet of a child sex trafficking nexus in a country where every 8 minutes a child goes missing.
The curtain raiser screening will be followed by a Q&A with the film's protagonists Artist Leena Kejriwal Founder of Missing Link Trust and veteran activist Hasina Kharbhih Founder Impulse NGO network. Along with Ushmita Sahu, Director and Head Curator of Emami Art Gallery, Director and Producer Miriam Chandy Menacherry, Writer and Impact Producer Triparna Banerjee, Cinematographer Ranu Ghosh and Associate Producer Sharon D Mello.
Post Q&A, there will be an interactive Public Art workshop led by Leena Kejriwal where the audience will be invited to spray paint the Missing Girl Silhouette and interact with the filmmaking team and share their stories of intervention with child trafficking, child marriage, gender abuse or other issues that feed into the child sex trafficking nexus.
