This WORKSHOP is a part of ONE HUNDRED YEARS & COUNTING: RE-SCRIPTING K G SUBRAMANYAN, presented by Emami Art in collaboration with Seagull, The Faculty of Fine Arts, MSU Baroda and KCC Conservation Lab at Kolkata Centre for Creativity.
Workshop Takeaways:
1. E-certificates will be awarded to each participant
2. Guidance by Santanil Ganguly (respected shadow puppeteer and performer with 25 years of experience) and Jhalapala members.
3. A public performance on the final day with many audiences and dignitaries

Note:
1. The workshop capacity is limited to 20 participants
2. Please ENROLL and complete the payment to confirm your ward's participation
3. Children need to carry their own water bottles and handkerchiefs
4. There will be a short break in between for basic refreshments
5. All workshop materials will be provided by Kolkata Centre for Creativity and Emami Art
The captivating Shadow Puppetry Workshop offers a range of immersive creative activities, including -
- developing stories
- crafting sets and props
- exploring both on-stage acting and shadow puppetry
By blending two mediums, participants will collaboratively create a piece inspired by one of the short-illustrated stories by the renowned K G Subramanyan, affectionately known as Mani-Dadu.

During this exhilarating three-day workshop at Emami Art, participants can learn from Santanil Ganguly, a respected shadow puppeteer and performer renowned for captivating young audiences. With over twenty-five years of experience in the field, Ganguly has directed numerous productions with his team, Jhalapala. He is eager to share his knowledge and technical skills in acting, crafting, puppet manipulation, and understanding the interplay between light and shadow.
At the heart of our workshop is cultivating a strong sense of visualization, exploring self within various characters and spaces, and fostering teamwork from an early age.
This experience will be enriching and provide valuable life lessons that participants can carry forward.
