As a part of One Hundred Years and Counting : Re-Scripting KG Subramanyan, Emami Art invites you to an illustrated panel discussion addressing the key themes, methods and contexts of a centenary exhibition re-reading KG Subramanyan's practice, which is wraps up on 21st June, Friday.

The panelists include N Pushpamala, Paula Sengupta, Sanchayan Ghosh, and the exhibition curator Nancy Adajania.

‘One Hundred Years and Counting: Rescripting KG Subramanyan’ has received an overwhelming response from audiences across generations. We are excited to announce that, we will be concluding the exhibition with a panel discussion that addresses the reasons for the continuing relevance of Subramanyan’s practice, which radicalised both artmaking and pedagogy by working in the interstices of visual arts, crafts and design. Nancy Adajania will discuss the significance of a research-based exhibition, which critically annotates its materials to speak to the political and cultural urgencies of the present. The panel will also explore the influence of Subramanyan on artists such as N. Pushpamala and Prof. Sanchayan Ghosh, and how they have respectively expanded his legacy to address questions related to performance, pedagogy, collaborative and community art practices, gender politics, ecology and Adivasi rights. Dr Paula Sengupta will share the curatorial methods she has crafted, over the years, to transmit her extensive research on the history of printmaking into institutional and distributed models of exhibition-making.

Following an exciting Musical Performance in Tribute to K.G. Subramanyan, the evening will conclude with the final curtain call of the research-based survey show, which has been on view for nearly three months.

Hope to see you!
