As part of the ongoing three Solo exhibitions, Emami Art will host an illustrative talk and interactive session featuring artists Ali Akbar P N, Bholanath Rudra, and Ujjal Dey. These three contemporary artists, each with unique practices, will delve into their creative journeys and inspirations that culminated in their respective works. The curatorial team seeks to facilitate a deeper engagement between the artists and the audience, presenting individual perspectives alongside the overarching curatorial vision for the concurrent exhibitions: "Pensive Moons," "The Salts of any Seas," and "Dawn to Dusk: A Silent Symphony."

Ali Akbar P N was born in 1996 in Koolimuttam, Central Kerala. He completed an MVA in Painting from Maharaja Sayajirao University, Vadodara, Gujarat, in 2020 and a BFA in Painting from the Government College of Fine Arts Thrissur, Kerala, in 2018. Ali Akbar was selected by an eminent jury for the first award at the annual all-India open call awards and exhibition, IMAGINARIUM 2.0 at Emami Art Kolkata 2022, and he participated in the IMAGINARIUM 3.0 Residency at Emami Art in 2024. Born in Kolkata, Bholanath Rudra studied painting at Rabindra Bharati University, graduating in 2013. He is a member of the Society of Contemporary Artists, Kolkata, which he joined in 2019. He was a part of the solo shows ‘States of Mind’ at the Society of Contemporary Artists, Kolkata, 2018 and ‘Mechanical Libido’ at the Academy of Fine Art, Kolkata, 2013. His work has been featured in many group exhibitions, including Hub India – Maximum Minimum at Artissima (Torino, Italy, 2021); ‘All That is Hidden’ at Emami Art (2024); ‘Freedom: From Despair to Dream’ at Aakriti Art Gallery (Kolkata, 2022), ‘Fluid Boundaries’ at Emami Art, Kolkata (2020); Annual Art Exhibition of Society of Contemporary Artists (2023, 2022, 2020, 2019, 2017); Annual Art Exhibition at Birla Academy of Art & Culture (2014, 2016, 2018); CIMA art gallery, Kolkata (2017); in the International Exhibition of Manab Jamin (2012-15); at AIFACS, New Delhi (2017); the State Art Gallery, Hyderabad (2019); at Karnataka Lalit Kala Akademi (2017); in the Annual Exhibition at Emami Art (2015, 2017); among others. Bholanath was an artist in residence at the Kira A. Princess of Prussia Foundation in collaboration with Emami Art Residency (Sept-Oct 2022). He was honoured with many awards, including the State Gallery of Art Award, Telangana Government (2019), Birla Academy Annual Exhibition Award (2018), Rajya Charukala Parshad Annual Award (2017), National Exhibition Award, Lalit Kala Akademi, Karnataka (2017) and All India Watercolour Exhibition Award, AIFACS (2017). His works were shown at the India Art Fair, New Delhi (2020). Bholanath Rudra lives and works in Kolkata.
Born in 1992 in Ranchi, India, Ujjal Dey is a contemporary textile artist pursuing a doctorate from Visva-Bharati, Santiniketan. He graduated from Kala Bhavana, Santiniketan, with a B.F.A. and an M.F.A. in textile and design in 2015 and 2017, respectively. Dey’s recent solo show was held at Cromwell Place, London, UK, in 2023. His works have been displayed at various exhibitions in India and internationally including Transforming Traditions at the InKo Centre, Chennai 2024; ‘Fragments of Our Time’ curated by Uthra Rajgopal at the British Textile Biennial, UK in 2023; ‘International Fiber Arts of Time’ at Nandan Gallery, Kala Bhavana, Visva-Bharati, Santiniketan, 2022; ‘GOONJ: An Abstract Continuum’ curated by Jesal Thacker at Coomaraswamy Hall, CSMVS, Mumbai in 2022; ‘100 YUVA SAMBHAVA’ by Raza Foundation, a show of 100 young artists of India curated by Akhilesh and Manish Pushkale in 2022; ‘Retinoblastoma: An Artistic Expression’, an online exhibition at L.V Prasad Eye Institute in 2021; ‘DEPARTURE’ conceptualized by Prasanta Sahu at Ganges Art Gallery, Kolkata, 2020; Young Santiniketan Artist Exhibition at SSVAD, Santiniketan, 2019; the Annual Exhibition at Birla Academy of Art and Culture, Kolkata in 2018 and ‘The Shape of Things’ curated by Ushmita Sahu at Ganges Art Gallery, Kolkata, 2017; among many others Dey’s works have also been shown at Art Dusseldorf 2023 and India Art Fair 2023, 2024 at New Delhi by Emami Art. Ujjal Dey lives and works in Santiniketan, West Bengal.
